This week is Asian Pacific Culture Week! I will be going to the Culture Night after this blog. There are week long workshops and events that bring all students of color together. I love how there are a wide range of Asians, or as many say, it's an umbrella term that encompasses many different types of Asian. I think it's wonderful that the Davis institution recognizes and embraces this.
I am a first generation Vietnamese born in San Jose. My parents are refugees of the war. Growing up, I never realized how much this would come to define me. My parents' struggles soon became my struggles, which inspired many of my dreams and goals today. I am proud of myself, my parents and my people.

the First Blog since high school
The last time I blogged religiously was when Xanga was still popular in high school.

Yeah, I used to be so emo, it's embarrassing. Not that I frown upon emo or anything, but I don't try so hard to wear my heart on my sleeve anymore. Thank goodness. When I see kids like those, I feel like they're ruining the scene more than contributing to it. I guess I shouldn't majorly be dissing them since I used to be one of them. One day everything will make more sense.
